Dissertation Coaching

Practical and intellectual support for moving your dissertation forward.

A dissertation is both an intellectual project and a long-term process. Even when you know what you want to say, it can be difficult to create a sustainable writing practice, keep a project moving, meet deadlines, and stay connected to the ideas that brought you to the work in the first place.

I work with doctoral students to develop the structures and practices that allow them to make meaningful progress. Together, we might work on creating a realistic writing schedule, breaking a large project into manageable pieces, getting unstuck, building momentum, or finding a scholarly voice that feels genuinely your own.

Because a good dissertation is a finished dissertation, this work is ultimately about completion. But I also want to help you develop a way of working that is sustainable beyond the dissertation.

What We Can Work On

Workflow & Completion
Develop a sustainable approach to your writing, establish realistic milestones, and create structures that help you follow through.

Momentum & Accountability
Stay connected to the project, make consistent progress, and work through the inevitable periods of resistance, uncertainty, or stalled momentum.

Scholarly Voice
Develop greater confidence in your voice as a scholar and learn to communicate complex ideas with clarity and authority.

My Approach

My approach draws on 25 years in higher education, 10 years as a tenured professor, and my own experience as a scholar and published author. I understand the dissertation from the inside: the intellectual ambition, the uncertainty, the isolation, and the challenge of sustaining a project over months or years.

This is coaching rather than editing or advising on the substance of your research. You remain the author and intellectual leader of the project. My role is to help you create the conditions in which your thinking and writing can develop—and to stay with you as you bring that work to completion.
