Academic Writing

Let's shape your ambitious ideas into

compelling publications

Good academic writing is about more than getting the words right. It’s about developing an argument, finding the through-line of an idea, making complex thinking accessible, and creating prose that sounds like you.

I work with academics and graduate students on scholarly writing at different stages, from early ideas and works in progress to manuscripts ready for submission. We might work on an article, book proposal, manuscript, chapter, or other scholarly project—clarifying an argument, strengthening the structure, developing the prose, or figuring out what the work is ultimately trying to say.

My own scholarship spans philosophy and interdisciplinary work in the humanities and social sciences. I’ve published three books with University of Minnesota Press, Routledge, and Polity, along with 19 peer-reviewed articles, as well as essays and op-eds in publications including the Los Angeles Times. I bring that experience as a scholar and published author to the writing process, along with the perspective of someone who has spent decades reading, teaching, evaluating, and mentoring academic work.

The goal is not simply to make your writing better. It is to help you develop the strongest, clearest, and most compelling version of the scholarship you want to put into the world.
